This is one of three works I made for Narvik School in 2021. “Dispersing” is a jacquard woven piece consisting of two pieces one measuring 1,3x4,3m and another installed behind 1,8x1,8 m. The inspiration was a collection of selfies taken by my daughter that was 13 years old at the moment when images were taken. I wanted to reflect on the fragility of being a teenager: the face is dispersing both in colour and the image itself. The background behind is inspired by aurora borealis that is common to see in the northern hemisphere. Technically, I had to take care of the wall's acoustic properties and find a clever way of joining the woven pieces together as the width of the woven surface was 1,5 for each panel. The artwork was installed in January 2022.
